Are You Covered for Coronavirus (COVID-19)? – Media Release: Monday, March 30th 2020

With the spread of COVID-19, NobleOak has received many enquiries from our clients about whether they are covered or not. In short, in many cases the answer is yes – subject to the normal terms of the insurance policy and underwriting at the time of application. We have outlined the below points to give you clarity on situations where you may or may not be covered at this time. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. At NobleOak, we remain committed to our clients during this uncertain time. Here is some useful information for you.

No Coronavirus Exclusion

Fortunately for our existing clients, there is no pandemic exclusion clause in their NobleOak insurance policies.

Existing Clients

NobleOak’s life cover, TPD cover and business expenses insurance provides cover in the event of death or illness from COVID-19, subject of course to meeting the current terms of the insurance policy which will not change.

NobleOak’s income protection product provides cover for those who totally or partially disabled because of COVID-19. However, the Specific Sicknesses and Injuries Benefit under Income Protection cover does not include COVID-19.

NobleOak’s trauma cover provides cover for a range of identified medical conditions and COVID-19 is not one of those conditions. If uncertain, please read your PDS or give us a call.

Guaranteed Renewal Feature – Providing Extra Certainty

NobleOak guarantees to renew our client’s Income Protection cover each year up to the age of 65, provided premiums are paid as they fall due. Their Income Protection cover will not be cancelled, nor will their premiums be increased due to any future change in your state of health, lifestyle, occupation or pastimes. They will continue to increase due to inflation.

When You Can’t Claim

If a client does not work due to self-isolation or due to office closure, they will not be able to successfully claim on their income protection cover because they are not unable to work due to suffering a sickness or injury. We encourage our clients to check the terms and conditions of their product disclosure statement (PDS) regarding the applicable criteria, or please give us a call if further clarification is required.

New Clients

New NobleOak clients should ensure they disclose all their travel plans within the next 12 months. They should follow the Smart Traveler guidelines regarding their travel plans.

NobleOak offers fully underwritten cover, each case is assessed individually by our underwriting team. This has not changed. Our underwriting process requires clients to provide details of any past or present illness, during the application process. If they have COVID-19 like symptoms, their assessment may be deferred until they have been assessed and fully recovered.
